This is an extremely rare antique 9ct Gold 'REGARD' brooch from the late Victorian era. The central multigem flower comprises a diamond, 2 rubies, an emerald, a garnet, and an amethyst. The first letter of each precious gemstone spells out the word, 'REGARD'.

The gems sit around the central diamond like petals and give this brooch its unique romantic quality. The flower sits on a gorgeous blue guilloche enamel background, which is bordered by 28 lustrious and well matched seed pearls. The back of the brooch has a locket back, which is empty and ready for you to add your own momento.

This style of antique brooch would have been given to a loved one as a token of affection, and to demonstrate that the giver held them in high 'regard'.
